Defends of the Ancients(DotA) is definitely a hands-on game.. Listening to theories may more or less help a little but the only way to improve or to understand the game is through practical..

DotA has more or less transformed over the past 3 years.. Its like a bird transforming into a phoenix.. From a boring and dull game, it changed into a game which is being played in a global stage.. Everyone country is playing DotA.. However, a popular game like this is not being selected into World Cyber Games(WCG)..

I think that it is every gamers' dreams to get to play in WCG.. It is the biggest stage out there for all gamers.. Sadly enough, DotA was never in the plan.. However, players are not discouraged as there are all sorts of competition being held in every country.. Examples of recent competitions are -- Singapore: Gaming Xtreme League, Moscow: ASUS Autum Tournament and Sweden: Dreamhack Hack Winter 2007.. Although these are continental competition, there will be several overseas team that will be flying to that particular country just to play in the competition.. This shows how passionate DotA players are..

For now, the biggest stage available to DotA players is the Asian Cyber Games(ACG).. You can see from the name, this competition only involves asian players.. DotA has been going on in this competition for 3 years but sadly Singapore has yet to win the ACG title..

Well, being the first post of this blog I would be giving a description of Defends of the Ancients(DotA)..

DotA is practically one of the games that is available on The Frozen Throne.. Its a team vs team game.. Bascially, in order for them game to start, there must be at least 1 person in each team.. Thus, there can be a minimum of 2 players and a maximum of 10 players.. There are 89 heros to choose from.. These 89 heros are split almost equally to 2 sides - Sentinel and Scourge.. In a normal game, people in the Sentinel side can only choose heros in Sentinel. It works the same way for Sourge.. However, there are several modes that will modify the game and only the the person with the blue color icon can modfiy the modes.. The mode which is used in every game will be -allpick(-ap).. Once the person with the blue icon typed -ap, people from both sides have access to every hero..
